New Creation Lutheran Church (NCLC) continues to face challenges in growing its ministries due to limitations in available space and scheduling at its property at 7275 Santa Teresa Blvd. San Jose, CA 95139.
There have been several attempts to identify needs and to get an expansion project started. Due to a variety of reasons, including a lack of a formal process and dedicated individuals to lead these efforts, minimal progress has been made.
This current project is to develop a plan for expanding the facilities, on the existing property, to allow NCLC to meet current and foreseeable future needs. It will develop and document the business requirements and the needs for existing and future facilities. It will define priorities for property usage and any additional resource requirements that are necessary to meet these priorities.
After the requirements and priorities have been established, there will be a Phase II plan to develop appropriate designs and develop a funding proposal. Follow-up phases will include funding, obtaining proper permits, and actual construction.
At the congregational meeting, on June 26th, the congregation voted to move forward with Phase II. This included releasing, up to, $80,000 to cover initial designs costs.
It was requested that the team look into options for a feasibility study to investigate possible rental income as well has local needs for the proposed expanded school programs.
Work has already begun on developing the Phase II Project Charter, to be presented to church council in February.
Additionally,Nicole Smith has volunteered to join the team.
